It is a test for both the physical and mental state of an individual. While some of the injuries take a shorter period to recover, there are also some that may take longer than we would generally hope for. In some cases, when the recovery takes longer than it should, we have seen individuals refraining from returning to their favourite sports or activity just because they&#8217;re afraid of re-injuring themselves again.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23001 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat4-1000x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Movement Assessment Tool MAT - Balance\" width=\"680\" height=\"696\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat4-1000x1024.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat4-293x300.jpg 293w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat4-768x786.jpg 768w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat4.jpg 1694w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>All of these cases lead us to ask:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Is there a way that we can help reduce the risk of injury while participating in sports? and<\/li>\r\n<li>How can we better prepare our own Practice Members to return to their sports?<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In our quest to look for solutions to our questions above, we found a technique called <em>Movement Assessment Tool<\/em> or <em>MAT<\/em>. MAT is an <strong>evidence based assessment technique that uses objective data to record the individual\u2019s movement<\/strong>. Based on the data collected, we can then compare the individual&#8217;s performance to the normative values gathered from a larger population.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22999\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat1.jpeg\" alt=\"Movement Assessment Tool MAT - Arms\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat1.jpeg 963w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Mat1-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The analysis as a result of the MAT technique will help individuals to better understand their overall body function and provide early identification of potential risks for injury.
