The World Mental Health Day was officially on the 10th October 2022 with the theme of<\/span><b><i> &#8216;Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority&#8217;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 but we know that mental health matters every single day of the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Inner-Lynk.001.jpeg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Inner-Lynk.001-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Inner-Lynk.001-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Inner-Lynk.001-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Inner-Lynk.001-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Inner-Lynk.001-1536x864.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Inner-Lynk.001.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>The Inner Lynk<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a team of licensed mental health professionals providing counselling for those experiencing difficulties with the one thing we can never part with as long as we\u2019re alive\u2026 <\/span><b><i>Our thoughts and emotions! <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just like how we provide physiotherapy and chiropractic therapy for the body, <a href=\"https:\/\/theinnerlynk.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Inner Link<\/a> provides mental health therapy for the soul, all in the greater Mont Kiara region. We\u2019re honestly quite blessed to have them right around the corner from where we work in Publika and they have become our go-to referral for any clients we have who may be seeking a combined mind-body approach as they also work out the pains in their body with us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No one bats an eyelid whenever someone says,<\/span><b><i> \u201cI need to see a physiotherapist for my knee pain,\u201d <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but there is still an underlying stigma when someone says, <\/span><b><i>\u201cI think I need to see a psychologist for some mental health issues I\u2019ve been facing.\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> As healthcare providers, our team is always open to encouraging those we come into contact with to see a psychologist for an evaluation if they are starting to find it difficult to work through their mental muddle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fun fact: Did you know that part of our assessment also includes understanding if a client has fear or anxiety regarding movement \u2013 called \u2018fear avoidance behaviour\u2019 in clinical research \u2013 and our physical treatment approaches are also scaffolded to address those issues?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s really no different from coming in for a consultation with a chiropractor or physiotherapist to figure out the cause of your physical pain \u2013 is it a muscle, joint, or nerve? \u2013 a psychological assessment helps you to identify where your weak links are and even (mental) exercises to perform to strengthen your resilience to face the storms of life. When we say <\/span><b><i>\u2018No man is an island\u2019<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we can also allude to meaning that our total health does not only depend on being able to move well but also on being able to adapt our thoughts and emotions competently.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/PHOTO-2022-12-05-11-41-25.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25524 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/PHOTO-2022-12-05-11-41-25-300x293.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/PHOTO-2022-12-05-11-41-25-300x293.jpg 300w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/PHOTO-2022-12-05-11-41-25-768x749.jpg 768w, https:\/\/spinefitchiro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/PHOTO-2022-12-05-11-41-25.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this goal of supporting our Mont Kiara therapy neighbours, our team member, Daphne, decided to participate in their event to achieve a goal of 30km in a single month. In her words, the reason why it is important for her to support mental health care and advocate for it is,<\/span><b><i> \u201cMost of us grew up in an environment and a culture that doesn\u2019t communicate, or rather maybe it\u2019s that they don\u2019t know how to communicate because it just wasn\u2019t the norm. And that results in suppressed emotions, miscommunications, misunderstandings and maybe even generational trauma. That\u2019s why it\u2019s important to talk about it, learn how to overcome these and it\u2019s time we break the cycle and learn to communicate openly &amp;\u00a0 effectively especially amongst the elder generation\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well said!
